Promoter

The promoter of this competition is My Refund Ltd, a New Zealand registered company.

Eligibility

New clients only: This competition is open to all new (i.e., not currently linked to My Refund at Inland Revenue) My Refund Ltd clients that are New Zealand residents who submit a completed tax refund application via the My Refund website during the competition period.

Exclusions: Employees of My Refund Ltd and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

Identification: each applicant must provide verified identification by the competition closure date.

Successful IRD Linking: Each application must result in a successful link to the applicant’s Inland Revenue (IRD) account.

Tax Agent Status: The applicant must still be linked to My Refund as their tax agent when the prize draw is completed.

Valid Contact & Bank Details: The applicant must provide as part of their application a valid email address and/or phone number, and a valid New Zealand bank account number.

How to Enter

To enter, applicants must complete the online tax refund application form at https://myrefund.co.nz/apply-now/ during the competition period. No purchase or additional action is required to enter.

By entering the competition, each applicant warrants that all the information submitted by or on behalf of the applicant is true, current and complete, the applicant is not participating in the competition on behalf of anyone else, and the applicant is eligible to enter the competition.

Competition Period

The competition opens on 00:01 AM NZT on Monday 12 May 2025 and closes at 11:59 PM NZT on Sunday 18 May 2025. Any applications submitted outside of this period will not be eligible.

Number of Entries

Each applicant may enter only once into the competition.

Prize Draw & Winner Notification

This is a competition of chance. One winner will be randomly drawn from all eligible applications on Monday 19 May 2025. The winner will be contacted by phone and/or email using the contact details provided on their online tax refund application. Once we verify the winner’s information, the $5,000 NZD cash prize will be transferred to the bank account nominated in the winner’s online tax refund application.

If the winner cannot be contacted directly (i.e. cannot be reached by telephone and/or does not respond to email) within five working days after attempted notification, a winner will be redrawn on the same basis as the original prize draw.

Prize Details

The prize is a single cash payment of $5,000 NZD. The prize is not transferable to any other person, or redeemable for any other form of payment.

Publicity, Marketing & Privacy

By entering, applicants agree to have their personal information used by My Refund Ltd for the purposes of administering the competition and for marketing purposes if that application wins this competition. The winner agrees to have their first name and general location (e.g. “Jess from Wellington”) shared on My Refund’s social media and marketing channels.

Disqualification & Cancellation

My Refund Ltd reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who does not comply with these Terms & Conditions, or who is suspected of tampering with the entry process. The promoter also reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition if necessary due to unforeseen circumstances.

Exclusions and Liability

My Refund Ltd will not be responsible for any tax, interest, or other fees payable by the winner in connection with the prize. The winner is responsible, at their own cost, for all applicable taxes related to accepting the Prize.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Refund Ltd and its related parties, employees, officers, and agents: will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury as a result of participating in the competition or accepting the prize.

My Refund Ltd has no responsibility or liability for cancellations, delays, or any other change by any person providing any element of the competition due to reasons beyond My Refund Ltd’s control, and the My Refund Ltd is not responsible or liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence of any such things. The failure of My Refund Ltd to comply with any provision of these terms due to any reason outside My Refund Ltd’s reasonable control, including due to an act of God, hurricane, war, fire, riot, earthquake, terrorism, act of public enemies, actions of governmental authorities, or other force majeure event, will not be considered a breach of these terms.

Use of Personal Information

By entering the competitoin, all applicants consent to the use of their personal information in connection with the competition as set out in these terms.

All personal information, as defined in the Privacy Act 2020 (“the Privacy Act”), collected during the competition will be handled by My Refund Ltd in accordance with the Privacy Act.

My Refund Ltd may use applicants’ personal information to conduct the competition, and for My Refund Ltd’s future promotional and publicity purposes.

My Refund Ltd may take photographs and/or videos of the winner. The winner’s name, videos, and photographs may be used in media for publicity by My Refund Ltd, without remuneration. The winner must make themselves available for this purpose, and sign any further consents or releases required by My Refund Ltd for this purpose.

For the purposes of notifying the winner and delivering the prize, My Refund Ltd may pass the winner’s contact details on to its agency and/or solicitor.

General Terms

The competition is not in any way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, any social media platform or third-party website used to promote, advertise, or otherwise facilitate the competition.

My Refund Ltd reserves the right to invalidate any entry for non-compliance with these terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, My Refund Ltd reserves the right to change these terms and any other aspect of the competition at any time during the competition, at its sole discretion. This includes the ability to suspend the competition and stop accepting further entries. Where My Refund Ltd makes any such change, it will use reasonable endeavours to notify the applicants.

My Refund Ltd reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and disqualify any entry or refuse to award the prize where false or misleading information has been given, or the applicant has behaved in a fraudulent or dishonest manner. My Refund Ltd’s decision will be final.

These terms are governed by the law of New Zealand, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
